You'll find all you need to know about the modem on this page. A downloadable driver for all supported versions of Windows can also be found at the bottom of this page.
USB Modem FAQs
Q. How do I de-install the modem ?
A. In the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, the uninstaller for your modem will be listed as Uninstall Modio, Select it and click on Add/Remove.
Q. How do I set the modem for Speakerphone ?
A. The speakerphone mode supported by this modem requires the use of Microsoft Netmeeting (included in Windows operating systems) or similar software. With a mic and speakers (or a headset) connected to your PC’s sound card, it allows you to hold conversations over the internet with similarly equipped PC users around the world, for the cost of a local call.
Q. Windows didn’t detect my modem , can I install it manually ?
A. No, the modem must be automatically detected by Windows to load the correct driver. If the PC does not react to the connection of the modem to the PC’s USB port, it will not load the drivers. Try deleting the modem (see above, or run SLCLEAN.EXE from the driver files), then re-connect the USB connection.
Q. Is this a software or Win-modem ?
A. Yes, this external modem uses the host processor (eg your Pentium CPU) to carry out all modem tasks.
Q. When I put in the CD, it prompts me to install voice software ?
A. You can press the Exit button to close this software option until ready. Note that this software is optional and does not load any modem drivers.
Q, Will the modem work with Windows-95 ?
A. No, although later versions of Windows-95 could be upgraded to support USB, it is not supported by our company for this modem.
Q. How and when do I upgrade to V.92 ?
A . There is no benefit in upgrading to V.92 until your ISP does so. (As this is written in December 2001, no UK ISP is supporting V.92). When your ISP does change, you will be able to download a new driver (from this page) to upgrade your modem. Keep checking this page.
Q. My MAC has USB, can it use this modem ?
A . No, although the USB physical connection can be made, we only support drivers for PCs and the Windows operating system.
