October 1999 -
Personal Computer World Recommended award
"If you're getting fed up with
using your computer for nothing more entertaining than Excel spreadsheets
and a bit of word processing, why not transform it into a television with
the help of the PCTV Tuner card from Modular Technology? Installation is
just a case of plugging the card into a PCI slot and connecting a TV aerial,
and the world of television is your oyster" Luke Peters

October 1999 - PC Home magazine Best Buy Award.
Please note, two products are available, a) PCTV with Remote and GALAXY and b) PCTV with Remote, GALAXY and NICAM. The Super PCTV with video camera hardware in this review has been superseded and the PCTV Camera combination is no longer available.
"Once installed, Super PCTV is very easy to use. The automatic tuning feature is excellent, the tuner managed to find nearly all the terrestrial channels and its picture quality is one of the best here.
The Teletext system is also very impressive; the card uses a programme called Teletext Explorer that acts just like Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Instead of typing in the page numbers manually, you can jump to any section immediately just by double clicking on a page number or the text relating to it. You can organise a Favourites list that contains the pages you use most, such as the TV schedules or sports section." Tony Browne

Our package received the top marks and best buy award in the review which included ATI All in Wonder 128, Hauppauge WinTV, Pace TV and Radio card, and Pinnacle Studio PCTV. Page 80.

September 1999 - What PC Best Buy Award
"As well as providing you with a TV on your desktop, you can also view Teletext, and this is where your PC really comes into its own. Each reference to a page is converted into a hotlink, so a mouse click will take you directly to the page you want. Pages can be searched for key words and copied to other applications, or set to update some spreadsheets automatically.
With UHF tuning, variable display sizes, Teletext and a remote control the PCTV tuner card’s got everything the self-respecting PC couch potato could wish for" Geoff Bains

August 1999 - Computer Buyer 5 Stars
"Modular Technology’s pre-release copy of its PCTV software is very impressive. The Card itself is the easiest to install because the software is well-integrated and written specifically for the UK market. Also, both TV and Teletext applications include several pleasing features. Galaxy Television offers all the standard facilities, but also integrates Teletext extremely well, so you can mix Teletext pages over live TV picture, and overlay subtitles....this is the best conceived software here." Paul Saunders
This was a very early pre-release version of our Galaxy Software, with a Nicam TV Tuner card without the Remote control. In this group review we came in second. Page 151.

June 22, 1999 - it.mail (supplement of the Daily Mail)
"Modular Technology is a firm that plans VCR software in the future and, although it's not in the company's current offering, Galaxy, their card is by far the best all-rounder we saw. The Galaxy has a great full-screen picture, easy installation and a remote control that powers all aspects of the computer, even doubling as a remote mouse. Some clever software tricks are also included, such as showing miniature pictures of all your channels at once so that you can select a station with a single mouse click, and software where you can search the entire Teletext system for specific keywords. June 3, 1999 - Computer Act!ve review of TV Tuner cards
"Galaxy's Teletext Explorer software also has some other interesting features. For example, it makes the Teletext pages behave like web pages, in that certain text such as page numbers, or indeed internet addresses will be hyperlinked. Basically, you can click on any of these links on the page and they will either take you to the appropriate Teletext page, or will start up your web browser and take you to the internet page that link refers to. This feature even extends to phone numbers, assuming that you have a voice-capable modem and a microphone attached to your PC."
"good value, easy to use, simple to set-up and has lots of useful features." Jonathan Parkyn
