PCMCIA 56K V.90 modem
Auto-adapts to V.90, K56flex or V.34 to match the fastest modem Internet service available. This 'plug and play' modem plugs into a PCMCIA slot in a lap-top PC, providing high-speed analogue data, high-speed fax, and answer phone directly from a personal computer.
It will 'auto-adapt' selecting V.90, K56flex, or V.34 automatically, to match the fastest compatible modem service from an Internet provider. (V.90 and K56flex are optimised for dial-up Internet access operating up to a theoretical maximum 56,000 bps from the Internet to the user and up to 33,600 bps from the user to the Internet). V.34 and lower speed operating modes are included, as well as error correction (V.42 / MNP 4) and data compression (V.42 bis / MNP 5) to eliminate errors and increase data throughput. Non-error correcting mode is also available and the modem supports V.80 as required for H.324 video conferencing. Using the communications software provided, the modem will send faxes or answer incoming calls automatically, with both activities able to take place in background whilst the PC screen and operator are engaged in other activities. With the telephone answering machine facility, a personal voice greeting may be recorded locally from a microphone or remotely by telephone and messages may also be retrieved locally and remotely. Free trials on the Internet are provided through starter CD packs included with the modem.
